Guangdong is going to be burning hot during this week as Typhoon Maysak stepped up its force once again last night.
At 20:00 August 30th, Maysak developed into a strong typhoon, and is expected to move from northwestward to northward at a speed of about 25-30 km/h. Its intensity will gradually strengthen and even reach a super typhoon level.
Maysak will not make landfall directly on the Chinese mainland. Yet it will have profound influence because its peripheral downdraft will bring high temperatures and haze to Guangdong and other places.

According to Weather China, Guangdong will be hot on August 31st and September 1st, with the highest temperature reaching 35℃ in many cities, and some cities are even expected to see highs of 38℃ to 39℃. Meanwhile, thunderstorms will occur in the eastern parts of the Pearl River Delta, and both eastern and western Guangdong.
In the next few days, Guangzhou will see its authentic summer--sunny and hot, with occasional thunderstorms. As the netizens joke: “Go out for five minutes and sweat for two hours.”
Residents are advised to exercise extra care if thunder and lightning, short-term heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, gale-force winds and possible secondary disasters occur. At the same time, stay hydrated and guard yourself from sunstroke!
